Forest Setting

A cool, vapour of sodden earth seeps into my nose with a deep breath. Far, far above me, tower monstrous bodies, dripping shredded tears to then settle on my bare arms. A drop is all it takes for a trail of hairs to simultaneously stand to attention. My gaze is drawn to the peeking streaks of moonlight through the crowded sky, only occasionally hitting the lonely path ahead of me. Darkness ahead beckons me deeper into the somewhat isolated arena. Quick glimpses then expose to me the hidden creatures of the night sprawled in all directions. The only real evidence, being the distant rattle, violently shaking the neighbouring shrubs. Shamed chunks of casualties rule the floor in a congested manner, only after being used up and dropped to the gutters. Dragging my feet through a thick pool, my body trudges forward captivated by the harsh silence.
